Homestead Bay House
Set within the spectacular landscape of Homestead Bay near Jack’s Point in Queenstown, this 670sqm residence was designed by Sumich Chaplin Architects as a holiday retreat for a Sydney-based family with a love of nature and adventure. Designed to support both family connection and escape, the home makes the most of its remarkable setting, with generous spaces for extended family and guests and a seamless relationship between indoors and out.
Ambitec SuaveStone polished plaster in Stone White was selected by Trinity Interior Design for the walls. Applied within the entry and through to the main dining and living area, SuaveStone brings a textural quality to the refined rustic interiors, where it contrasts with the use of grey schist and dark smokey timber beams.
The finish continues through the hallways to the main bedroom, which features a fireplace framed by a textural stone outer hearth and natural stone surrounds. It is also used in the ensuite and guest wing, helping create a cohesive material palette that connects the interior to the surrounding landscape.
Ambitec's Queenstown-based certified installer, Dowd Concrete & Plaster, hand-applied the SuaveStone and it was finished with a medium-grade polish, giving the surfaces a textured finish with a depth that complements the traditional architectural style of the home.
